NEW COVID UPDATES FOR MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES
Welcome Musicians and Dancers!
Ms. Williams (Romera), Ms. Jones, and Mr. Donataccio, and Ms. Mac are happy to welcome all of our new students and would like to share their plans for both the music/dance room environments as well as their plans for eLearning.
Chorus, Band, Orchestra, and Dance will offer as much content and course material as possible for students who choose to learn music from home. Students will have a degree of access to campus to participate for music and arts, and will be invited to perform in concerts. Students may also take part in contests and games through social media. Joining online this semester will help prepare students to join the physical group if and when they choose to in the future.
All practice areas will be cleaned regularly and seating will be configured to separate students. All space in the rooms will be maximized and mask wearing will be required for string players and percussionists during play where distancing is not maximal, and for all students during non-playing instruction periods. Sharing instruments will not be allowed.
Students (especially in chorus) will also use outdoor spaces as well as the open cafeteria stage to maximize space between singers.
Brass and woodwind players can use bell covers when it is applicable to their instrument. We are also looking into specially designed masks that can be worn while playing. Students may consider purchasing a bell cover from one of these sources:
We Are Excited!
Music, dance, and the arts are integral parts of education as they bring priceless value to the lives of our kids, future adults, and the community at large. Please support the arts during this uncertain time, it’s one thing we can’t afford to lose. We look forward to seeing all of you!
